but its network is still disappointing... Airport Express from Tsing Yi to Airport, dropped calls (my colleague was using it and I could feel how upset he was... and he was using that free Huawei phone)... then arriving at airport station, signals came back ok... but then at AsiaWorld Expo, signal dropped to 2G until we walked into the ITU reception hall.
CSL and Vodafone are the most reliable -
你講左個問題所在"Huawei phone"
But isn't Huawei's Uxxx customized for the PCCW mobile network (SUNDAY network)? Like Sharp V903SH for Vodafone. I have heard some street-talks saying PCCW network runs best on Huawei handset (its exclusive models)... Is this understanding correct?
The other thing: PCCW is the "big brother" of the ITU this year... this can be a disgrace to the company image. (PCCW asks foreign vistors to log into PCCW mobile network while roaming in HK... and our UK colleagues experienced dropped calls in central and causeway bay... eventually they had to go back to SmarTone-VOdafone network
Try to advise your friend change to other 3G phone then he will see the difference. I was complaining about the poor network of PCCW but after I changed the phone to K800i and the Softbank, I satisfy with the network, though the audio level is a bit low.
I agree that there are plenty areas are not covered, it just like the CSL GSM in the beginning worse than Smartone in the old days, then CSL became the so called BEST network in HK, however, it is no more the BEST after Mr. Li sold it to the Australian Telstra, PCCW has the potiential to take over the position, thank you to the powerful landline exchange network built in HK.
And this is the reason why they are charging $98 (? am I right ?) for 2,000 mins plus non stop Now BBTV broadcast, before the completion of the network.
Don't think that I have any connection with PCCW, in fact I had wrote something about the Customer Service of PCCW, you may use the search function to check.
